Our Little Free Library

Do you have a Little Free Library in your neighborhood or local community? We are fortunate to have many of these in the Richmond area and I have always enjoyed visiting them. My mother was a career elementary school librarian. She is absolutely where I found my love of reading. She passed away unexpectedly in August 2020. Even in her final days she asked me to bring the next library book she had checked out to her at the hospital, as she was about to finish the one she was currently reading. She wasn’t about to finish it unfortunately, but we still propped it up in front of her and got out her glasses so she could make her best attempt. I know books brought her so much comfort, as they still do for me, and I sure hope she is enjoying the largest library imaginable in heaven everyday,

Mother’s Day 2021, our first Mother’s Day without our beloved mother, wasn’t the same for our family, but we made the best of it… my sister, brother-law and I, along with our wonderful family, dedicated a brand new Little Free Library in honor of my mother. Spreading her love of reading and education to the community in her memory helps us honor her legacy even during our continued grieving. We hope many will benefit from this library and will take books and leave books for others for many years to come.
