This was my first read by Susan Meissner, but it sure won’t be my last. I love historical fiction, but have never read any about the 1906 earthquake in San Francisco. This was and immersive and suspenseful read. I became very attached to the characters and constantly wanted to pick it back up to see what was going to happen to them. There was also a bit of a mystery, which I didn’t expect at all, and the twists and turns were great. This was my first 5 star read of 2023 and I have already downloaded another of her books to jump into soon.
